I am currently running a full version of 4.2.4 and also have the 5.1.0.6066 player just for some NI powered libraries.
I have a couple of third party libraries, due to updates, that now require a full version of Kontakt 5.0.3 and I need to upgrade but I do Not want to install the K5 libraries nor do I have the SSD space to do so. I also do Not want to lose K4 and its libraries.
I thought I read somewhere on the forum that I could just upgrade the Kontakt 5 Player by purchasing a serial number and entering it into the Service center upgrade section but when I click on the upgrade button is takes me to the NI site to purchase a Boxed only version of Kontakt 5 that requires shipping.
Has anyone done this.
Can I just enter the boxed version serial number into service center upgrade and my now Free Kontakt 5 player will magically become a Full version of Kontakt 5 that will work with the third party libraries.
Will I be forced to install anything from the box at all.
I would really appreciate any help because I feel very confused about this entire process.

Kontakt 5 is a separate install from Kontakt 4, so your Kontakt 4 will be left intact. Also, you are not obliged to install the factory library at all.

So do you think I would be better off installing the Kontakt 5 from the box and skip the library install or just upgrade the Kontakt player with the serial number from the box in service center.

You will be prompted to download an updater file to install if you just upgrade by using the serial number. So either way you will be installing software. It depends on the version that is in the box whether you will still have a newer update to download and install after if you use the boxed disc.

I don t mind installing Kontakt 5, I just don t want to install/copy the library files due to sample drive size limitations.
Most important, I want to make sure that I have full functionality so that the third party libraries will run properly.

Native Instruments have released an update, version 5.5.1 to their Kontakt 5 engine.
This is a free update to registered Kontakt 5 users. You can download your update either through the Native Instruments Service Center or by logging in to your Native Instruments user account and using the Personal Update Manager system to obtain the update installer.
The latest version of the FREE Kontakt 5 Player can be downloaded from the Native Instruments website, linked here.
